The hunt for the fastest lap on the famous Nurburgring seems to have taken over the auto world lately.Nissan got on it with its new GT-R but couldn’t get it just wright. So,the Japanese manufacturer tried with an electric car, the Nissan X-Trail FCV.If you think about it,having the fastest lap,on any category,if a huge marketing tool so Nissan released a fuel cells-powere X-Trail.You have to admit that this circuit doesn’t see any day a car like this but I think it’s a good idea.Even if alternative-powered cars aren’t associated with high performance,it’s good to know that they can at least keep up with regular cars. And what better way to prove it if not on a racing circuit?
The Nissan X-Trail FCV(FCV= Fuel Cell Vehicle) only drinks hydrogen and spits aut water so it can be called a friend of the Earth. But the actual motors run on electricity produced by the interaction bethween the hydrogen and the oxygen. The engine has 120 HP and 280 Nm with a top speed of 150 km/h.The range is over 500 km.
We can’t talk about a record since Nissan is the first to test a car of this kind on the Nurburgring but it’s good to know that the Nissan X-Trail FCV got arround the track in 11 minutes and 58 seconds.
And now for the not so good part:the price. The model that had been tested is valued at arround 1,3 million euros.
